Masive data analysis

The high throughput data study implies creating optimum algorithms and deep analysis of the laboratory techniques. The GDF is an example, as it was thought to help with the analysis of masive genotyping data from the two genotiping platforms of the Santiago node of the National Genotyping Center, and now it is a powerful tool for processing nearly any kind of high throughput genotyping information. Another example is the SPSmart, which is a search engine that allows its users to access diverse statistical data (allele frequency, minor allele, heterozygosity or Fst) of different databases containing genotyping data with populational information (HapMap, Perlegen, CEPH or SNPforID).

Data management

High throughput genotyping techniques demand an agile and efficient management of the large amount of data to deal with. The miniLIMS is an example of this need, and it is a web tool that works as a file manager, allowing the appropriate data management and a personalized access to it.

Web broadcasting

The need of out group to broadcast its research efforts is a high priority, so the appropriate publishing and broadcasting of tools and results is really important. Examples of this need are the SNPforID Browser that allows querying the results from the forensic SNPforID project, the bioinformatics@usc portal where the most relevant bioinformatic tools are published, or even this portal of the Grupo de Medicina Xenómica.
